ISUA | I [Press Release]

The frequency of the Isua stone connects to the Muladhara chakra, grounding energy to the magnetic core of the Earth. It’s ancient energy resonating with the vibrations of primordial wisdom and knowledge, the 3.7-billion-year-old Archean mineral is said to hold all forces sustained by Earth; chaos, peace, destruction and harmony; and provides a gateway for introspective reflection of our past experiences and traumas.

CRUCIBLE Is proud to release the debut EP from ISUA, I - a meditation on chaos, presented on translucent red vinyl as a single-sided 12” EP, limited to 200.

Consisting of members of DAWN, Giant, Defamer, No Haven and Weedy Gonzales, ISUA has been cursed since day one. Conceived in 2018, the band has overcome countless obstacles laid before them. Their despaired, desolate breed of doom/sludge, a timely explosion into the Melbourne scene, captivating audiences since their sold-out first show, plagued by lockdowns and postponements they have broken through the chaos to establish themselves as one of Australia’s most ferocious and exciting new heavy acts.

This ethos of overcoming struggle is brilliantly reflected in ISUA’s first single,
Burden Of Dreams. Inspiration: “German director Werner Herzog begins work on his 1982 epic "Fitzcarraldo" but soon runs into serious setbacks, from casting problems to his own stubborn refusal to use special effects. After having to reshoot much of the film because the lead actor was recast, his crew must then haul an old-fashioned steamboat over a mountain using manpower alone. With a resolve bordering on insanity, Herzog struggles to realise his vision, vowing to see the film completed -- even if it leads to his undoing.”
Burden Of Dreams hypnotises the listener from the fuzz-laden opening riff, the following seven minute barrage of grinding doom pins the listener to the floor, with no escape from the incendiary, smokey vocal attack laid down by Mikey and Patto. With only a brief reprieve, the sludge fuelled bass intro of track 2, Anemoia drags us back into the churning gears of ISUA. turning up the tempo and aggression. These 2 tracks flow together like lava, making ISUA’s debut single sided 12” EP a bold statement and a prophecy of things to come.
